Brian Griffin, the founder of our Bowler Hat Society and the annual tournament, shows his concentration in this supposedly relaxed event. It was Brian's energy and dedication that brought our Village Green to reality. And now he gives tender care to the grapes growing up the pergola posts around the green. Thanks Brian.

Tim Vilhauer, tournament organizer, briefs the teams at 9 am.

Diane, the wine steward of the Fairhaven Market "Put a Cork In It" team places a shot. Her team came in second. This photo well illustrates the thick grass and bumps that give our Green a unique playing surface when compared with normal super smooth Bocce courts.

Referee Lee measures which ball is closer to the palino ball under the watchful eye of players. Lee and referee Sal volunteered their time for the third year to make the tournament a smooth and enjoyable event. Thanks guys.

A great group of players and spectators showed up at 9 am this morning. Our Village Green grass is a bit bumpy by Bocce Ball standards and this makes for what we call a more "egalitarian" competition. The setting is perfect for a relaxed tournament amonst friends. The Bocce equipment can be checked out from Village Books by anyone on any day of the week. Ask at the downstairs customer counter for full information.

On the sidelines, Lydia provided enjoyable violin music and folks enjoyed following the games.

The sun came out by late morning and we all welcomed it.

The High Rollers of Fairhaven Realty won the 3rd Annual Bowler Hat Bocce Ball Tournament on the Village Green today. From left are Jay, Ryan, tournament organizer Tim Villhauer presenting the trophy to Debbie and Beau. Missing is Richard who had a sports injury during the tournament and was replaced in the last games by Jay. The weather was perfect, and the competition was close throughout the day.

The score board. This is posted for reference. The competition was single elimination to three teams, A, B and C, who then played a round robin. The 'High Rollers" of Fairhaven Realty came in first, with "Put A Cork In It" of Haggen Fairhaven Market second, and "the Gardens of Padden Creek" third.
