Winter in Fairhaven - for a few days<< Back to archives | Thursday, December 18, 2008
Shops and restaurants are open in Fairhaven. As you can see, the streets are full of life. And plenty of parking. Take exit 250 from I-5 and the Old Fairhaven Parkway is clear and safe right into the historic district of Fairhaven. You will find bargains in all the shops as the owners do what they can in this slow economic time. This is real Midwest winter - crunchy snow and temperatures in the teens and a windchill of zero. Those of us who migrated here from Wisconsin and other states with real winters will not pooh pooh these last few days. Ahh, but one of the reasons we all moved here was to escape these winters. Fortunately, the prediction is for melting to start this weekend and continue. So we can enjoy a few days of this. But brrr - that is a cold wind.
Don White, owner of Skylark’s Hidden Cafe, scrapes the sidewalk clear this afternoon. We happened upon Don scraping the sidewalk in front of his neighbor’s shop - having already cleared all in front of his restaurant. This is typical of Don. Very community minded. We invite you down to Fairhaven to shop for gifts. You will find bargains but more importantly you will find unique things that will delight those dear to you. |
