Win’s Closes With A Bang

<< Back to archives | Saturday, May 1, 2004

A rock band played from atop a stage on two huge dumpsters in the parking lot - and played ‘til the last burger was sold, about 10 pm. Hundreds enjoyed the music, courtesy of Tom and Mary Lue, the owners of Win’s. A festive scene all evening. They closed with class. (Thanks to Neil for above photo.)

The evening was unusually warm for April, and the crowd just grew as the 10 o’clock closing time approached. It was a special and rockin’ scene.

Monica, one of the employees at Win’s and the great-granddaughter of Winnifred Easterly, who started the drive-in back in 1964, relaxes after one of the busiest days ever at Win’s. After 40 years in the same family, the popular Fairhaven eatery has closed. The property has sold to a local developer. A Fairhaven institution has moved on. It may reopen after a short time with new managers.
