Whidbey Island Bank opens new Fairhaven office

The historic 1890s Waldron Building has a bank again.  Whidbey Island Bank opened their new Fairhaven offices on the main floor of this recently renovated building.  Above, Jeri Ann waves a welcome from the bank front door at the corner of 12th Street and McKenzie Avenue.

Here David Hannah, the branch manager, stands with his staff in front of the traditional teller windows.  From left are Heather, Jeri Ann and Ali.  They had a “soft” opening Tuesday and will be having a proper grand opening in a few weeks.  We welcome them to our Historic District from their former office up on Mill Avenue.  And they invite each of us to stop in and say hi.

The bank is providing a very nice new service for our southside community.  They have included a community meeting room in the design of their new offices.  It is secure from the rest of the bank to allow after hours meetings with its own entry.  It is for - yes - community groups and not commercial purposes.  It is modest in size but can be of use for many organizations.  To reserve it, contact David to discuss whether it is appropriate for your group.

Yes, a bank is again in the corner of the Waldron Building - 114 years after the original bank closed.  The Waldron was built in 1891 with the “Bank of Fairhaven” in this corner.  It closed in 1894 as the depression swept the country.  David Ebenal and his construction company bought the building about 5 years ago and completely renovated and restored the building.  The upper floors have two deluxe condos per floor and a couple are still available.
