Weather breaks for Salmon BBQ & Sidewalk Sale

The Saturday morning rain stopped and the day became sunny and warm for the annual Sidewalk Sale and Salmon BBQ in Fairhaven.  Once the day’s events were over, the rains started about 6 pm.  The weather break made for a great afternoon in Fairhaven, the streets crowded with folks finding bargains on tables on the sidewalk in front of shops.  And in the Village Green, almost 300 salmon dinners were sold out by shortly after 3 pm.

Above is the chef Bryant Davis on the right with his assistant John on the left.  Bryant is a Realtor with Re/Max in Bellingham and donated his skills to help out the Fairhaven Community.  He did a superb job on the wild King Salmon fillets from Vis Seafoods on James Street.  We sincerely thank him.  And we want to thank Kyle Bornstein and Bornstein Seafoods for the effort to get us fresh caught this week wild Kings from our own waters in the Salish Sea near Fairhaven.

Three of the dozen volunteers who helped make the salmon bbq a success.  From left, Katherine serving corn on the cob from Joe’s Gardens, Janice with the salmon and Pam spooning up cole slaw from Skylarks.  Avenue bread provided all the rolls - see the photo gallery.

Katie of Katie’s Cupcakes with a selection of the deserts.  She donated 300 cupcakes and everyone got to choose the size and flavor they preferred.  A superb treat.

There is a gallery of 10 photos of the BBQ and volunteers
