Village Green hosts dinner for hundreds

BALLE, a national organization of local businesses, held their annual conference in Bellingham this week. And held their closing reception and dinner on the Village Green. We in Fairhaven were pleased they chose our historic district. And we wonder if even their members realize that every single business in Fairhaven is locally owned. Not a single chain eatery or shop. Our bookstores, coffee shops, clothing and shoe stores, art galleries, restaurants, jewelry shops, pharmacy, sporting equipment - all of them locally owned and managed.

How many enjoyed dinner on the Green? We were told over 300. And the Bellingham Parks Department allowed them to serve wine and beer. A first - and a nice precedent for future events.
