Veterans Memorial Flagpole Relocated<< Back to archives | Wednesday, July 28, 2004)
A better location - on the pie-shaped land between Finnegan Way and 12th Street in front of the Fairhaven Library - the flagpole stands a full 12 feet higher than before. The crew from Ebenal Construction has just finished putting the new globe on the top. They started at 6 am this morning and finished cementing in the pole about 2 pm today. Tomorrow they will paint the pole a fresh white. Ebenal Construction paid for all expenses of moving the pole and refurbishing it. They also built a new Memorial Plaza next to the relocated pole. We thank them for their community spirit and their sesitivity to our Veterans Memorial. A full page of photos of the move across the street is posted. This page will be a permanent page at this website. First flag raising will be this Saturday at 10 am. The Veterans who originally built the memorial in 1987 will hoist the colors. All are invited. |
