Town Criers Speak OUT

<< Back to archives | Thursday, July 3, 2003

Dressed in authentic colonial clothes, several Town Criers visited our Village Green today and gave impressive demonstrations of the human ability to speak loudly and clearly. In days of old, town criers were needed in every town. Today, the skill is kept up and passed on by the few. Criers from Anacortes, Nanaimo, La Conner and even England showed us their abilities on the Village Green.

We don’t have a crier for Fairhaven. Maybe someone will learn the skill and volunteer. Today, they offer their services for birthdays, weddings, exhibitions, opening ceremonies and all sorts of special occasions.
