Saturday photos - Dirty Dan Days
The Alzheimer’s 5K Walk & Run had hundreds of participants starting at the Village Green this morning at 9 am. This shows them starting and going north on the South Bay Trail.
Scooters - fun, colorful scooters of all types - were lined up in front of Chispa on Harris Avenue today untill 2 pm. Besides their new ones, they had several old classics for folks to view and even caress. And, yes, down the street that is a full bred Harley pulling up to park.
Lucas Hicks is the winner of the Dirty Dan Look-a-Like contest - selected by the applause of the crowd. MC Doug Borneman signals the winner.
Dancing to the music of “The Caved In”.
The table is set for the oyster eating contest. The eight contestants are ready - and eyeing their plates of raw oysters on the half shell. The oysters were provided by Dirty Dan Harris restaurant - and of course, oysters all sorts of ways is one of their specialties.
With their hands behind their backs, they slurp up the oysters from the half shells - eight oysters total - and the first to finish stands back up - which is the guy in the yellow t-shirt. We think his name is Garp.
And the champion oyster slurper accepts the applause of the crowd on the Village Green.
The kids always love the mascots. Haggen is one of the official sponsors of the festival.
Friends gathered at one of the outdoor tables of the Colophon Cafe, which is right next to the Village Green.
Gordie Tweit, our much loved district historian, getting ready to take a photo.
Penny Tillson and Gordie Tweit - a photo more for us who live in Fairhaven. Penny and her late husband Ty Tillson worked for decades researching our early history. She is now retired and thus is back at work on our history.
That is it for photos from today. We will post photos Sunday afternoon of the events of the day.
