Rain Festival fun event despite good weather<< Back to archives | Sunday, February 8, 2009
Fairhaven locals enjoyed their 7th annual Rain Fest on Saturday with rain poetry, a rain gear fashion show and much goofy humor. It is a celebration of what we endure for months each winter - the rain - even as we know the rain brings us the incredible beauty of our Pacific Northwest. Above, our Poet Laureat Richard Lewis, is holding the microphone for the reading of a poem. Prizes were contributed by Fairhaven business owners for the poetry and fashion show.
Our Raining Queen Diane, who owns the Barber Shop in Fairhaven, is shown checking for rain while Taimi Gorman holds Mattie the pug who will next be petted as part of our winter rain prediction. The entire festival lasts an hour and then all retreat to enjoy Fairhaven’s shops and restaurants - and enjoy some warm drinks. A Photo Gallery of the Festival is posted for your enjoyment. We’ll be adding caption material as we can. We thank Tim Chandonnet Photography and Stephanie Johnson of Fairhaven Realty for the photos. |
