Pavers Will Be Replaced<< Back to archives | Thursday, January 15, 2004
Pavers within 10 feet of the construction site for the new Village Books building are being carefully taken out and put in storage. If left alone there, they would be damaged by the building construction. This photo is almost a public service announcement. Workers are carefully putting these Village Green pavers on skids, left, and then into storage until August or September. They will then be replaced in the exact places they were before. Why the exact places? Many of the pavers are inscribed with the names of contributors to the Village Green, and the contractors are committed to returning the area to its exact pre-construction condition. They will come off the skids in reverse order during replacement. In the background is the excavation in progress for the new Village Books building. Work is ramping up fast. |
