Old Glory flying again after pole repairs

The large summer flag is again flying proudly from the top of our 100 foot flag pole.  Last week, Zender Volvo Rentals of Ferndale provided their 120 foot lift with Mike DeRosa operating it to enable threading a new cable through the pulley at the top of the pole.  The old cable had badly kinked in early March - causing the flag pole to be empty for two months.

We greatly appreciate Zender Rentals help. Mike came out in March with a lift to help get the stuck flag down.  And they helped two years ago when we put up the new pole.  The Old Fairhaven Association maintains the flag and pole - and we have learned that a 100 foot pole is far more complicated than one would ever guess.  But we hope enough has been learned to keep the flag flying continuously from now on.

The pole and flag were first installed in 1989 and is a memorial to Veterans.  It echos the 100 flag pole put up by Dirty Dan Harris in 1884 in about this same location.
