Music on the Village Green

Anna Schaad and her friends provided an hour of beautiful music before the movie “The Sound of Music” this evening. It was another magical evening. Thanks to John Meloy for the photo.

Part of the magic evening has no photo, as it happened at 10:30 pm. After over 2 hours of movie, a rain shower moved over Fairhaven. As the rain increased, some folks left, but most simply moved off the grass and under the pergolas to continue watching the movie. They were enjoying this great musical and weren’t going to let a little rain interfere. And besides, the Trapp family was in the middle of escaping Austria.

We continued to show the movie, and a couple hundred folks stayed and enjoyed it to the end - and then gave a round of applause. Everyone was so mellow and friendly. The rain ended before the movie did, and everyone had a dry walk to their cars and homes. No photo, but what a neat sight of everyone under the pergolas. Well, except for about a dozen die hards who pulled their blankets over their heads and watched to the end from the middle of the green.

A very sweet and memorable evening. Thanks everyone.
