Harris Avenue filled with buildings again

In the 1800s, Harris Avenue was booming and full of buildings. Then, for a century they slowly went away - until there were only a few left. Barely saved over the past 30 years by Ken Imus, and with new ones being built over the past 10 years, we again have several blocks of fine brick buildings.

This view looks east, uphill, on Harris Avenue near sunset. Most of these buildings have residences on the upper floors, making this a residential neighborhood. We have a community - what the politicians now call an Urban Village. The first buildings on the right are the new Harris Square complex at 9th Street of three buildings with condos above and commercial spaces on the ground floors. The buildings are steady for four blocks up to Fairhaven Square at 13th.
