The March 4 event is cancelled. We are rescheduling for the last half of March - and will have a new date soon. March 18 is tentative - and it will be then or within the two weeks after that. We were just too ambitious in hoping to raise the flag on the exact anniversary of Dan Harris raised his in 1884. Well raising it in the same month will be close enough. As you can see in the photo below, the pole has arrived via truck from Wisconsin. It will next be transported to Fairhaven and then welded together from the three sections into one of 110 feet long. Yes, it is made of steel and should last past all of our lifetimes. It is powder coated white - but in the photo it is wrapped in protective plastic. |
