Boatbuider prepares for big test of latest design<< Back to archives | Saturday, July 29, 2006
Ron Mueller of Wayland Marine on the Fairhaven waterfront, is making the final tweaks to his latest boat. It is an 18 foot long sailing and rowing craft that is perfect for beach camping. He designed and built the boat in his shop and will now race it and hopefully win the regatta next month through the Canadian Gulf and San Juan Islands from Nainimo to Port Townsend. For years, Ron has been designing and selling kits for beautiful rowing boats at his local shop. By the way - if you look closely in the boat just this side of Ron’s leg you can see one of the two sliding seats used for rowing. Yes, that is a wooden boat, constructed with the stitch and glue method. Beautiful and practical. Anyone can visit Ron’s shop just down on Harris Avenue. You can look up his business listing under the ‘Play’ button at the top of this page. |
