Alaska Ferry backs gently into berth

A weekly sight at the Cruise Terminal down Harris Avenue, but still a fun event to watch. Every Friday morning - between 7 and 9 ususally - a beautiful ship of the Alaska Marine Highway docks here. Young and old are there to watch. Today it is the Matanuska that is running the 3-day route from Skagway to Fairhaven. It will leave this evening about 6 pm - another fun event to watch. Starting in May, two ships a week will call here for the summer.

Fairhaven is a gateway to Alaska and we love our role in welcoming travelers who spend a bit of time enjoying our restaurants and shops - and sometimes arrive early to stay at our hotels and enjoy our historic district.
