Saturday, February 7 || 11:30 am to 12:30 noon
Official PACIFIC NORTHWEST RAIN FESTIVAL!
Take part in this brief, fun, usually goofy, mid-winter happening in the heart of Fairhaven--at the Fairhaven Village Green! This is an EVERYONE participatory event - and a good antidote for the winter blahs.

Coming to our festival from afar? We have maps for finding our little rainy village.

With rain poetry, rain gear fashion show, music (about rain?), hot drinks (they're wet!), and a rain prediction at noon, this event is all about the weather we love and that makes the PNW home. All are welcome to enter a rain poem, enter the rain gear fashion show, bring a musical instrument and help make rain music.... Prizes from Fairhaven merchants. Come to Fairhaven, see the many colorful window displays featuring umbrellas, and join us for the fun,

Anyone can write an original poem about the rain and enter. You read your poem and we have a judging panel that awards a first prize and also such honorable prizes as they judge.

Find your rain gear that is most useful and funky - and combine items on yourself and attend. We will have a judging of best gear getups and award prizes.

Can you plan music? Got an instrument? Bring it and join with others to make music. Rain music.

Agenda
- 11:30 am - arrival on the Village Green of the Raining Queen and her court. All applaud and cheer.
- Followed by the Raining Queen proclaming the Festival open and calling for poets to celebrate the rain.
- Followed by the reading of the winning poem from the 2008 festival.
- Followed by readings of poems by all who wish to participate.
- After all have read, the judges will ponder and judge the best poem in their estimation.
Poetry awards - with prizes from Fairhaven Merchants.
(We may then read further poems from years past. Or, we may not.)

- Approx 12 noon: the parade of rain-gear fashions - all may enter - young, old, male, female.
- Followed by judging and awarding of prizes.

- 12:23 sharp: All gaze into the mist and cloudy sky toward the south for any sighting of the noon sun. If even the outline of the sun can be seen then this means only 7 more weeks of rain - but only if the pooch is also dry.
- Followed by petting of the pouch - if dry then only 7 more weeks of rain. If wet then 8 more weeks of rain.
- Followed by final words, and the Queen closes the Festival.
- All retreat to favorite shops, eateries, parks or pubs.
