The Old Fairhaven AssociationThe organization of those who love and support our historic district.The Association is a non-profit corporation, whose purpose is to "... promote Fairhaven as a community while preserving the historical character."The Alert List is available online. Monthly Merchant meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month, except December, and are open to participation by all members. Discussion items include marketing, events, news, publicity, introductions of new business owners, and often a presentation on a relevant Fairhaven issue. Merchant meetings are held at Village Books, in the downstairs author reading area, and start at 9 am sharp, ending just before 10 am so merchants may get their businesses open. Enter through the Colophon Cafe door off the Village Green. Merchant Meeting schedule 2008 - Wednesday, Jan 9, Feb 13, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug 13, Sep 10, Oct 8 & Nov 12. No meeting in Dec. Election of new Directors during morning of Nov 12. Board of Directors Meetings Meetings are on the second Thursday of each month at 6:15 pm. In March, the meeting is the annual General Membership meeting, held this year at the Lairmont Manor. In May, the meeting is on Wed, May 7 as Girls Night out is on Thurs. In August and December there is no meeting. Association members are welcome to attend board meetings. Board Meeting schedule 2008 - Thursday, Jan 10, Feb 14 Thursday, March 13 - Annual Membership Meeting - 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lairmont Manor in Edgemore. All members are encouraged to attend. Thursday, April 10, Wednesday, May 7, Thursday, June 12, July 10, Aug no meeting, Sep 11, Oct 9 & Nov 13. Dec no meeting. MembershipThe Association sponsors events through the year to attract people to the historic district and to raise funds for district projects and marketing. The Association has beautification projects, such as the hanging flower pots on all the lamp posts and holiday lighting. It works on other projects with the city and property owners to improve the ambience and utility of the district, such as signage, parking, litter control and more.

The Fairhaven Association is a non-profit, all volunteer organization founded in 1972 to promote the Fairhaven area while preserving its historic character. The Fairhaven Association board of directors and members work together year round to promote the success of the district. Benefits .... include but are not limited to:
- A basic listing for your business on Fairhaven.com - the official website of Fairhaven. - A Quarterly newsletter to keep you updated on events, news and announcements regarding your neighborhood. - Regular Email announcements/updates which keep you "in the know". - A clean and welcoming neighborhood. - An annual membership meeting, currently held each March. - Yearly distribution of our Historic Walking Tour brochure which helps to bring visitors to Fairhaven. Who May Join? Any Fairhaven business or interested individual is eligible to join the Association. What does it Cost? Annual membership dues are based on number of employees. Participating in the advertising program is optional ~ however, the more businesses that contribute towards adverting, the better job we can do with exposure for us all! Advertising funds are allocated both locally and regionally. Indivudual (non-business or non-profit org.): $40 a year; optional suggested $100 advertising fund contribution, for a $140 total Individual (business owner) $40 a year; optional suggested $100 advertising fund contribution, for a $140 total 2 - 5 employees: $80 a year; optional suggested $120 advertising fund contribution, for a $200 total 6 - 15 employees: $100 a year; optional suggested $150 advertising fund contribution, for a $250 total 16 + employees: $125 a year; optional suggested $200 advertising fund contribution, for a $325 total If you have further questions, contact Robin Robertson at 733-5050, or email at: Board of DirectorsThe board meets monthly and conducts the business of the Association. Election of the board directors by all Association members takes place each November. Directors are elected for two year terms with a portion being elected each year. Currently, there are 19 board members and one Ex Officio non-voting member. The next election will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
