It is a sad day in Fairhaven.

A pedestrian was killed by a car in a crosswalk at 12th & Harris. Apparently he - a fellow in his 40s, maybe - was walking with the light. We don’t know his name yet, but will post full information in a day or two when it is all released.

The red car hit him and then hit the truck, which was stopped at the crosswalk, and pushed the truck downhill. David, who has had his shop on this corner for 30 years, said it is the first time ever for such.

This will be traumatic for our little district. We try so hard for safety. All I can say is we all need to again tell ourselves to be careful driving. Our cars are so powerful and people are so delicate. We need to focus when we drive.

This website normally posts the good things in Fairhaven. But I think it would be irresponsible if this was not covered. I hope you understand. And our deep sympathy to this fellow’s family and friends.
