Flag at half staff to honor fallen soldier

You may notice our flag is at half staff today. We try our best to honor those Washington State service persons who are killed while in the service. They and their families deserve our respect - and a half staff flag salute is most proper.

Here is the Governor’s statement:

Governor Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all Washington State agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Thursday, September 4, 2008, in memory of U. S. Army Specialist Carlo E. Alfonso of Spokane who was killed in action August 26, in Sadr City, Iraq.
