Amtrak stops in Fairhaven. The Alaska Ferry leaves from Fairhaven. The Greyhound bus station is in Fairhaven. The Victoria passenger ferry leaves from Fairhaven. Interstate 5 passes by only a mile from Fairhaven. Plus we have great accommodations - upscale, cozy and B&B.

The ticket counter for booking passage to Alaska. The ferry takes 37 hours to the first stop, Ketchikan and 3 days to Skagway. It leaves every Friday at 6 pm year round, and Tuesdays at 6 pm during the summer. It returns from Alaska each Friday morning between about 7 or 8 am, depending on weather and tides.

As of December, 2009:
Trains leave daily for Vancouver, Canada at 9:49 am and 8:58 pm. The ride is about 2 hours and prices are generally below $20 one way.
Trains leave daily for Seattle at 8:35 am and 7:40 pm. The ride is about 2.5 hours and prices are generally below $25 one way.
Check the Amtrak website for additional bus services and latest schedules and fares. Reservations made online are often very good deals.

Larrabee State Park

Washington's first state park

Larrabee State Park is a 2,683-acre camping park with 8,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on Samish Bay near Bellingham in northwest Washington. The park features two freshwater lakes, coves and tidelands. Sunsets are gorgeous. A variety of non-motorized, multiple-use trails wind through the park.

Ferry to Victoria leaves 9 am daily, arriving Victoria at 12 noon; departing at 5 pm and arriving back in Fairhaven at 8 pm. Every day of summer till Oct 2.

They also run the San Juan Island Commuter, which can take you to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island and also to Eliza, Sinclair, Blakely and Lopez islands.
