February Official Pacific Northwest Rain Festival
First Saturday in February
Feb 7, 2009 - Feb 6, 2010 - Feb 5, 2011
From 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. A fun, goofy mid-winter happening with rain poetry, rain gear fashion show, music, hot drinks, and rain prediction when we pet the pug. Everyone is welcome to enter a rain poem and enter the rain gear fashion show. Prizes from Fairhaven merchants. A participatory event - and a good antidote for the winter blahs. Come join us for the fun. It is a little different each year.

Ron Mueller's Wayland Marine shop right in Fairhaven is the hot spot in the Northwest for the sport of rowing. Each February he sponsores this fun event. All are invited to check out the display of rowing shells and boats. Experienced rowers are on hand to answer questions. Old or young, rowing is a pleasant and challenging sport for you. April Dirty Dan Days
Last Saturday & Sunday of April - all over Fairhaven

Family fun games and contests on the Village Green on Saturday, plus charter sailing yacht tours, motorcycle parade and show, and on Sunday, rowing and kayaking on the waterfront, tasty chowder cook-off from 2 to 4 pm on the Village Green - and the piano race at 4 pm. Dan Harris founded Fairhaven in 1853 and this is our annual celebration of his vision. The Dan Harris Challenge rowing and paddling races have their own website for registering for next year's events and seeing the annual results.

May Ski to Sea - It All Ends In Fairhaven Festival

June Summer Solstice Walkabout

July Fairhaven Runners Chuckanut Footrace
First Saturday after July 4
July 12, 2008 - July 11, 2009 - July 10, 2010 - July 9, 2011
A beautiful 7 mile run, this race was first run in 1967 and is the oldest annual footrace in Washington State. 2008 will be the 41st race. It starts at Marine Park in Fairhaven and goes down the Interurban trail to Larrabee State Park on Chuckanut Drive. Over 900 participated in 2007. Fairhaven Runners co-sponsors this the Greater Bellingham Running Club.

July Bowler Hat Bocce Ball Tournament

Starts at 9 am and finishes about 3 pm
16 teams playoff in double elimination competition. $60 entry fee per four person team.

September Salmon Barbeque
First Saturday after Labor Day

The return of the Salmon Barbeque that Fairhaven was so famous for in the 1980s. Serving is from 1 to 4 pm. On the Village Green, of course. Menu includes salmon, salad, roll, corn on the cob, beverage and desert. The first renewal of this favorite event was September 2007 and it was great fun. Plans are in progress for the second one in 2008. There will be music and other fun to make this a great afternoon.

September Fairhaven Runners Waterfront 15K

A run and walk from the Village Green, along Bellingham Bay to Squalicum Harbor and back along the bay, finishing at the Village Green. Beautiful vistas of the bay all the way. More info and online registration at Fairhaven Runners Race is USATF Certified. The flat, out-and-back, 9.3-mile course has been sanctioned and certified by USA Track & Field, #WA0502213L. So count on an accurate and fast 15K for your resume! Yes, it is chip timed. Age groups and prizes. Even so, this is a walker friendly race.

October Halloween on the streets of Historic Fairhaven
Every Oct 31, from 3 till 6 pm
Our special event for the little ones, with treats for all and the Historic District decorated for a scary fun time. Each year features a new theme. 2006 is ghosts. Past themes have been black cats and spiders. While we have provided maps, just count on virtually every shop and restaurant to be ready with treats.

November Holiday Tour d’Art Gallery Walk
Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving

5 pm till 10 pm, each evening. Start of holidays in the Historic District. Many artists with their work in the shops and galleries. Drinks and treats at many shops. Tree lighting at 5 pm is planned for 2006.

December Holiday Decor in Historic Fairhaven
From Thanksgiving till the New Year
Shops, buildings and street trees are all decorated with over 30,000 lights and the entire Historic District is aglow, plus special hours till Christmas. The lights stay up and on thru January 31.
